Childhood me is shook.
Last week, I travelled to California for the 31st annual Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards. It was nothing short of surreal to sit in the audience at the same event where my childhood icons (i.e. the Jonas Brothers) once won their orange blimps. I remember being 12-years-old in Niagara Falls and watching Dwayne Johnson—decked out in a wig and her matching off-the-shoulder dress—present a tearful Miley Cyrus with Choice Female Singer at the 2009 show. I never imagined I'd be there myself nearly a decade later.
The carpet was unlike any I'd seen before and the show was just as fun and colourful as I'd always dreamed it would be. I had so much fun taking celebrity portraits for YSBnow. Check them out below!
This year, the show happened to fall on the same day as the nationwide March For Our Lives protests across the United States. It felt even more special to be in a room of empowered young people at a time when they're making progress their predecessors failed to on a day that will forever be remembered in history books.
I was also lucky enough to interview School of Rock's Breanna Yde and Ricardo Hurtado during the pre-show seating tour. Watch now!
Thank you so much for bringing me along, YSBnow. Current and former Julianna is so unbelievably grateful!
Until next time,
Julianna
